Welcome to another episode of our EBC Prayer Podcast. As discussed in our previous episodes, our prayers will be rooted in the 66 books of the Bible. We began in Genesis and will conclude in Revelation by the end of the year.

Today, we are delving into the book of John. Our scripture will be taken from John 1:22-23, and it reads: “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” He said: “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Make straight the way of the Lord, 'as the prophet Isaiah said.”

The Lord is preparing our hearts for his presence. Calling us for spiritual readiness with the weight of prophecy and transformation among the people. As we pray, let us ask the Lord what he wants to do in our lives.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father. Our Lord, our God, and our Savior. Father, we come before you once again in humble prayer, bowing our hearts and lifting our voices to seek your guidance.

Lord, thank you for reminding us of John, who was asked the questions: “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” He said: “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Make straight the way of the Lord, 'as the prophet Isaiah said.” Father, just as John prepared the way for Christ, we too are called to prepare the way in our own lives, in our families, and in the world around us.

Lord, help us not to falter. Sometimes the wilderness of this world feels overwhelming, chaotic, noisy, filled with distractions and temptations. But you are reminding us that even in the wilderness, you have the power to speak clearly. Even in the silence of surrender, the quietness of prayer, and the stillness of your presence, we can still hear your voice. Lord, teach us how to be attentive to your Spirit, and discern your will above ours.

Father, help us to be living testimonies of your goodness. Let our words, our actions, and even our thoughts reflect your light. In a world that is weary, wounded, and often wandering without hope, we are praying and asking you to make us vessels of hope. Help us to be gentle encouragers, pointing others to the joy that is found in you. Let our lives be living letters, written by your hand, testifying that Jesus is Lord.

Lord, give us the courage to speak your truth with love, even when it is unpopular, even when it is difficult. Give us the humility to serve rather than to be served, to love rather than to judge, to listen rather than to speak hastily. And the wisdom that only comes from your spirit, guiding us step by step, word by word, moment by moment.

Father, we know that obstacles often stand in the way of serving you faithfully. Fear, pride, doubt, and distractions can cloud our vision. But today, remove those stumbling blocks. Strip away anything that keeps us from fully surrendering to you. Break down the walls in our hearts that resist transformation. Fill us with boldness, with joy, with patience, and with unshakable faith in your promises.

Lord, soften the hearts of those who are hurting, questioning, or resistant to your love. Touch the lives of our families, our neighbors, our coworkers, and even strangers we may meet along the way. May they see you reflected in us, not because of our strength, but because of your spirit shining through us.

Father, we bring to you our burdens, our worries, our struggles. You care for us more deeply than we can comprehend. Teach us to rest in your grace, to rely on your faithfulness, and to walk in step with your spirit. Thank you for the gift of salvation.  Thank you for the daily mercies that greet us every morning.  Thank you for the love of those around us, and the unshakable promise of eternal life with you. Even when life is difficult, your blessings abound, and we are grateful.

Lord, we commit ourselves once again to your mission. We echo the cry of the prophet: “Make straight the way of the Lord.” May our lives be that straight path, a clear invitation for others to come and know you. So that everything we do will bring glory to your name.

We pray in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer…Amen.

Everyone. Please have a great day, and by God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow…Bye-bye.
