Welcome to another episode of the EBC’s Prayer Podcast. Our scripture will be taken from Jeremiah 18:19, and it reads: “Give heed to me, O Lord, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.”
The Lord is letting us know that he understands the challenges that Jeremiah faced as he confronted his adversaries, the weight of their hostility pressing heavily upon Jeremiah, but God did not give up on him. In our own lives, we may encounter similar struggles as we strive to deliver God’s truth to those who are resistant to transformation and reluctant to embrace repentance.
The Lord wants us to reach out to Him with earnest prayers; He is assuring us that He is not only listening to our heartfelt pleas but also aware of the adversaries we are facing. Today, as we kneel in prayer, let us take a moment to meditate on the incredible power of God’s healing touch. It is He who can mend our broken spirits, save us from despair, and bestow upon us peace.
In our prayers today, let us reflect deeply on the importance of seeking divine attention amidst our conflicts. Let us consider what it truly means to have our voices lifted and heard during times of trial and opposition, for each utterance is met with divine understanding and grace. The Lord is ever attentive and ready to grant us the comfort we are seeking.
Dear Heavenly Father. Our Lord, God, and Savior. Father, we come before you with humbled hearts, filled with gratitude for who you are. You are merciful, you are loving, you are steadfast, and you will never abandon us. Lord, thank you for the gift of forgiveness, for your mercy that meets us every morning, and your compassion that never fails.
Father, we are praying and asking you to “Give heed to us, O Lord, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with us.” Lord, you see the trials everyone is facing, both the ones that are visible to the world and the ones we carry in our hearts. You know the conflicts that arise in our relationships, in our families, in our communities, and even within our own spirits.
Father, open your ears to our pleas, and listen closely to the voices of those who stand in opposition to us. Lord, grant us the strength to face our adversaries, and help us find solutions and peace in our struggles. Help us to trust in your wisdom and mercy as we navigate these challenges. For nothing is hidden from you. You see the weight pressing upon us, and you are reminding us that we do not have to carry it alone.
Lord, at times, adversity creeps in and makes us feel weary. Righteousness, integrity, and truth often seem to be battling resistance, and the issues of life sometimes seem too heavy. Lord, you promise us that when we abide in you, you will renew our spirits and safeguard us in your peace.
Father, teach us to turn away from anger and strife. Replace it with the gentleness and patience that comes from your spirit. Guard our tongues, that we might not speak words that wound, but rather words that heal and uplift. Guard our minds, that we might not dwell on bitterness or resentment, but on things that are pure, lovely, and worthy of praise. Guard our hearts, that we might be quick to forgive as we ourselves have been forgiven by you.
Lord, where division exists, pour out reconciliation. Where misunderstandings and hurt have created walls, tear them down by the power of your spirit. Replace distrust with trust, pride with humility, and restoration. Father, only you can mend what is truly broken. Only you can bring lasting peace where conflict seems unending. So, we surrender everything to you.
Lord, remove strife, for you are the God who listens to every cry. Soften our hearts and let us experience the freedom that comes from letting go of earthly things and trusting you. Lord, give us courage. Courage that stands firm in righteousness even when opposition is coming our way. Courage to speak truth in love, even when silence seems safer. Courage to remain faithful to you in a world that often resists your ways. May we never grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose hope.
Father, help us to go through this day with grace. Open our eyes to the opportunities available. Let us be vessels of your light. Let others encounter your presence through the way we listen, the way we forgive, and the way we extend compassion.
Lord, thank you for hearing our prayer. Thank you for your protection, for your promises, and for your never-ending love. Please turn anger into peace, bitterness into joy, and brokenness into wholeness. We are resting in the assurance that you are faithful, that you are good, and that you are with us always.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray…Amen.
Everyone. Have a great day, and by God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow…Bye-bye.
