Welcome to another episode of the EBC’s Prayer Podcast. As mentioned earlier, our prayers throughout the year will be taken from the 66 books of the Bible. We began in the book of Genesis and will conclude in the book of Revelation.
Today, we are diving into the book of Zephaniah. Our scripture will be taken from Zephaniah 3:5, and it reads: “The Lord is righteous in her midst; He will do no unrighteousness. Every morning, He brings His justice to light; He never fails, but the unjust know no shame.
The Lord is encouraging us to trust in God's righteousness. The righteous Lord is present with us. He stands as a beacon of righteousness, unwavering and just in all His dealings. Each day, He brings forth His justice to illuminate the shadows of injustice, ensuring that those who walk in uprightness are secure in their faith. His commitment to fairness never wavers, and His actions are a testament to His goodness.
As we pray, let us remember that the Lord knows that those who choose the path of injustice remain blind to their own shortcomings, failing to recognize the shame that their actions bring upon them.
Dear Heavenly Father. Our Lord, God, and Savior. Father, we come before you with humbled hearts. Thank you for the opportunity to pray. “You are a just and righteous God; you will do no unrighteousness. Every morning, you will bring your justice to light. You never fail, but the unjust know no shame.”
Father, you are the righteous Judge who sees all things clearly. There is no shadow of corruption or evil in you. In a world marked by injustice and confusion, you remain pure and faithful. Lord, at times our hearts grow weary when we see wrong go unpunished, when cruelty seems louder than compassion, and when the innocent seems to be judged harder than those who are not innocent. But you are encouraging us that every morning you bring justice to light. Lord, nothing is hidden from you. No act of evil escapes your notice, and no cry for help goes unheard by your ears.
Lord, we rest in the assurance that you never fail. We fail one another, we fail ourselves, but you, our eternal God, never falter. You are continuous, unshakable, and always good. Lord, teach us to live holy and pray continuously, so that when storms come, when doubts arise, and when issues become overwhelming, we can remember that you are the righteous in our midst.
Father, you are God of justice and mercy. When we see injustice, it moves us to despair, but draws us nearer to you. Help us to intercede. When we encounter unrighteousness, help us respond not with bitterness but with prayer, forgiveness, and courage. Help us to reflect your compassion, so that our lives can bear witness to your light.
Lord, we are lifting before you those who are suffering under injustice, the oppressed, and the forgotten. May your justice rise like the morning sun upon them. Bring healing where there is pain, freedom where there is bondage, and restoration where there is loss. God, let us know that you have not abandoned us. You are near to each of us, and you will not forsake us who put our trust in you.
Father, we lift in prayer those who wander through the shadows of unrighteousness, those who remain unburdened by shame. In your boundless mercy, we ask that you awaken their hearts from their slumber. Pierce through the veil of their hardened perceptions of right and wrong, informing them with the radiant beauty of your righteousness. May they see the world through eyes unclouded by darkness.
Help us to remember that we, too, were once lost in despair, lost in the fog of blindness, and lacking of hope until your grace, like a guiding light, rescued us from the depths. Instill in us the patience and boundless love to intercede on behalf of others, as we trust that your mercy continues to wield the power to transform and save.
Father, strengthen us to live as lights in this world. Help us rise each morning with the assurance that as you bring justice to light, you are also renewing your mercies upon us. Let gratitude be the song of our hearts, even in trials. Let hope anchor our souls, even when the night feels long. And let our faith testify to others that our God never fails.
Lord, we pray for our families. May we be instruments of peace and justice wherever we are. Guard us from weariness in doing good. Teach us to love mercy, act justly, and walk humbly with you. And when we are tempted to give up, remind us that you are working even when we cannot see it, for you are the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps.
Lord, we place ourselves into your righteous hands. Purify us where we have fallen short. Strengthen us where we are weak. And keep us close to you, that we may live in the light of your justice and walk in the freedom of your truth.
We pray all this with gratitude, and hope, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer…Amen.
Everyone. Please have a great day, and by God’s grace, we will pray again tomorrow…Bye-bye.
