July 23 – Day 204. Magnify the Lord

Welcome to another episode of the EBC's Prayer Podcast. Our scripture will be taken from Luke 1:46-47, and it reads: “And Mary said, my soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoiced in God of my Savior.” 

The Lord is reminding us that in moments of gratitude and wonder, Mary reflects on the greatness that fills her with joy and purpose. The depths of her soul were uplifted as she recognized the miraculous journey that was a part of her life. 

As we pray, let us magnify the Lord and rejoice in his liberation. Let us celebrate the grace that he is showering upon us as he has transformed our lives into something greater than we anticipate.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father. Our Lord, God, and Savior. Father, we come before you with gratitude for the incredible privilege to pray. Just as Mary declared, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,” 

Lord, as we go through this day, help us to lift our voice and magnify you, for you alone are worthy of all honor and praise. We acknowledge that when we magnify you, it is not because you need to be made greater; you are already infinite, eternal, and glorious beyond all measure. It is our hearts that need to see you more clearly, our spirits that need to align with your greatness, and our eyes that need to be opened to behold your majesty. 

Father, help us to magnify you above our circumstances, above our anxieties, above our trials, above the noise of this world. Help us to keep you high in our thoughts, in our words, and in our prayers. Like Mary, help us to rejoice in you as our Savior. Help us to rejoice that you are not distant but near. Help us to rejoice that you came down in humility, clothed in human flesh, entered our world of pain and brokenness to bring redemption. Help us to rejoice that you see us, that you love us, and that you call us by name.

Lord, in moments when life feels heavy, help our spirits still find joy in you, our savior. When we feel weak, help us to know that strength is made perfect in weakness. When we feel forgotten, help us know that your eyes are always on us, and your thoughts toward us are countless. Lord, help us to magnify you, not only for what you have done but for who you are, faithful, merciful, and true. You are the God who lifts the humble and fills the hungry with good things. You are the god who keeps promises from generation to generation. You are the god who never fails.

Father, too often our souls magnify our problems more than you, who is our powerful God. Too often, we rehearse our fears instead of remembering your faithfulness. Lord, forgive us, and realign our hearts today. Help us, like Mary, to look beyond ourselves and see the greatness of your hand at work.

Lord, we are praying for those who are going through issues in life right now. May their souls be lifted as they remember your goodness. Let our spirits find rest in your perfect peace. Knowing that you are our comforter in times of storm.

Lord, help us to magnify you with our families. Magnify you in our workplaces. Magnify you in our services. Be the center of our decisions, the anchor of our souls, and the joy of our lives. Help us to magnify you for the unseen ways you are moving. Even when we cannot perceive it, you are working all things together for our good. Even when we feel surrounded, you are surrounding us with your love and protection. Even when prayers seem unanswered, you are faithful to hear and to act according to your perfect will.

Lord, just as you overshadowed Mary and brought forth the miracle of your birth, overshadow us today. Birth in us fresh hope, deeper faith, and greater love. Let our lives, like Mary’s, bear witness to your glory and let our souls magnify and rejoice in you with faithful praise.

Lord, thank you for hearing our prayer and for being the God who saves, the God who redeems, the God who is with us.  May our souls magnify you even after this prayer ends. May our spirits rejoice in you every day, in every circumstance, until the day we see you face to face.
